7269, TOB failure Posted by 740 turbo brick, Jul-17-08 07:22 PM
Is this a serious problem on our transmissions? My stock clutch had a TERRIBLY bad bearing, and you could hear it over my car down the street. I put in a new one that came with my F1 clutch, and less than 200 miles later it almost sounds like its coming back. Its very faint and isnt always noticable. But neither the new or old bearing was snug on the input shaft. Is it supposed to be?

They are almost always noisy, as they vibrate in the fork. they don't ride snuggly on the pressure plate. I've never seen one fail, however.
I just ignore the noise.

I pinched my fork slightly in a bench vise when I changed the clutch, I didn't like how loose it was.
