7053, Overfilled transmssion question
Posted by powellds, Mar-14-08 11:54 PM
Just a quick question since I am very overly protective of my car. I just changed my tranny fluid and filled it from the reverse light sensor hole. While I was putting in the first quart, I guess it was guzzling out of the hole and I didn't realize. I am not sure how much didn't make it in the hole, but I am guessing about 1/2 a quart. I had 3 quarts though luckily. So, I continued to fill and guesstimated 2.1 and I think I might have put too much. My question is, can you overfill it from the reverse light sensor hole and is that a problem if it is in fact overfilled? OR..... When it is full, will it start to run out of the reverse light sensor hole? As always, I really appreciate all the help I get on here. TIA

So, I just need to keep adding until it overflows? I am almost 100% positive I have put more than 2.1 quarts. Thanks.

I've never used the reverse hole to fill the tranny. I used the fill hole and i'm sure that it was right aroung 2.1 quarts in before it started coming back out. I would drain, refill and check your amount.

No. It will definitely over fill. If you want use the "overfill" guideline, you can use the correct fill hole for that. Just an FYI, a guy on the Neon boards was able to get three quarts in his using the reverse hole, lol.

Yeah, ^^^^ that's what I figured, I think I will just open up the factory fill point and let the excess drain out since it's more than likely overfilled. Thanks for the help guys!
