Ok I'm new to the whole front wheel drive game, I'm a truck guy. But My GFs car (95 talon esi) is a noisy little bugger. She thought she burnt out the clutch so it sat at her freinds house for 2 months, when we finaly got it towed over here I took one look at it bled the clutch and it shifted just fine... women.

But now I have a new problem. The car screams like a Banshee. If its in Neutral just over idle, she screams. If its in gear, she screams. if I push the clutch in slowly, she purrs. I've done a search, and a little reading, but in everyone elses case it goes away when the engine warms up indicating a bad/under lubed throw out bearing. I drove it for 30 minutes this morning and it was just as bad when I turned it off as when I started it.

I'm reading the flywheel is rivited to the clutch, so that can't be it. When I shift its firm and feels like it disengages just fine... Unless someone else has an idea, I'm thinking about possibly swapping the slave cylinder or the starter. Any other ideas??? I want to exhaust options that dont require removing the tranny first... Mostly cuz on FWD I don't know how.

Geesh... maybe I should just sell this thing and let someone else deal with it.... Buy her a Jeep or something I know how to work on. anyone want a CHEAP 95 talon in Louisiana? HEHE just kidding she loves that car and would kill me!!!

BUT SERIOUSLY... PLEASE HELP ME!!!

The pressure plate is riveted to the flywheel. Not the clutch disc.

Anyway, if you press the clutch in and blip the throttle, does it still scream?

Also, where are you in Louisiana? There are a few of us here and there. Maybe if you are close to Baton Rouge I can give you a hand.I know otherwise there are some people in New Orleans, Hammond and Monroe that post here semi regularly.

Actually I'm in the Shreveport/Bossier area. no, if the clutch is in, I can rev it all the way without any screaming....

Sounds like a bad Throwout bearing. If you know how to work on RWD or cars in general, this FWD is not much different at all.

x2 My 88 accord has a bad throwout bearing and it makes all kinds of crazy noises including screaming, the noise only occur when the clutch is engaged, in neutrual with the clutch disengaged I hear nothing when I rev.. I am about to pull my first 420a out of my talon so im not sure how hard it really is, but like the others say if you know how to work on RWD cars FWD isnt that much harder.

Well thanks everybody... I drove it for about 100 miles the other day and it stoped squealing around 75. I've driven it everyday since and no noise. Hoipefully it doesn't come back and I don't have to worry.

Yup, i would diagnosis it as a throwout bearing as well. Mine is bad right now and it screams every once in a while.


Life is good when its not yelling back. When my car gets kinda warm itll stop, but other than that it sounds the same.

Yep its the throw out bearing. Mine did the same thing. First it rattled when it was cold then about 2k miles later it started squealing. Replaced it and doesn't make a sound
