ok guys, well the rubber boots on my linkage cables busted so the cable itself kinda flops around in my engine bay causing my pull gears to be mushy, so i hopped on chat the other day and was told i need new linkage cables. well i found some for $50 w/ free shipping (i didn't think it was bad) from B&M but they come in 3 different trims:

4 foot cable

* Fits B&M shifters built 1981 and later
* Will not work with race shifters

5 foot cable

* Fits B&M shifters built 1981 and later
* Eyelet/thread
* Will not work with race shifters

6 foot cable

* Fits B&M shifters built 1980 and before
* Thread/thread
* Will not work with race shifters

so here is the question...will these work with the stock shifter or will i need to throw in a B&M short-throw...and if they will work with the stocker, which trim should i get? i assume the 4 ft one, but not for sure. any help would be great, thanks.

None of those cables will wirk with yourcar. Those are for automatic RWD domestic tranny's. They mention race shifter because they offer a B&M race shifter. Apparently they are not compatible with it

I noticed that when I looked over them again today :(. So I went to a bone yard and pulled some off a Talon TSI and quickly found out (after installed and couldn't get them to fit onto the tranny) they are TOO LONG! Wasted $26 but oh well. Are there any companies that sell the ones I need? Because none of the bone yards around here have any 2GNTs sitting in their yard - all turbos.

What broke?

The rubber boots aroudn the cable shaft stretched and tore away. So the cable would just flop around in my engine bay. My buddy and I are going to try and clip those facotry metals rings that hold the boot the the shaft and move the boot down, then use small hose clamps to try to hold it all in place. Not sure how well it will work, but I guess it is worth a try...
