What is the difference between a rigid clutch disk and a sprung clutch disk?

a sprung hub will look like it has little springs arranged ina circular pattern around the hub center while a solid hib does not. The sprung hub will spread load out over the hub and reduce chatter and harshness and handle tempterature better for those two mentioned traits. A solid hub is harsher, but more direct plus a spring will never fall out and wreak havoc inside your bellhousing. If you have a full race car get a solid hub if you want if you dont then dont even think about it. Nothing that much more positive that you would want it over a sprung hub.

PZP...quit spreading misinformations. Your spreading out theory and temp thoery ect are bullshit.

Sprung hub: The friction disk of the clutch and the hub of the clutch that the input shift of your trans splines into are two independent pieces separated by 4-6 springs and riveted together. The purpose of this design is during engagement the springs form a cushion or a little give to lessen the impact of harsh engagement.

Rigid Disk or solid disk: the hub and friction disk are riveted together to form one solid piece; niether piece moves independent of one another. During engagement there in no springs to lessen the impact of a harsh engagement.

Temp has no bearing on the choice of hub, Springs falling out is called lcutch failure and we are not discussing that in this topic. Any clutch can fail in its own way.

As far as spreading load....that is the biggest line of bullshit this month. Both hubs distribute load from the friction disk evenly. The solid hub uses the rivets and alignment pins and the sprung hub uses both rivets and springs to distribute load.
