6181, seating axle in diff after manual swap

i'm hoping to get better response here.

i swapped to a manual and i kept the auto axles as i heard they were the same. are these fully seated all the way? the driver side axle has some corrosion on the shaft making me think it was like that before i pulled the auto tranny.

there is like half inch or less of shaft still exposed. is this fully seated?

also do people add more tranny fluid after they do a tranny swap? i would assume yes.

The part numbers are the same but i had a problem. I put my old automatic axle in and i had a massive leak. I just put a new axle and seal in and it fixed the problem.

Autos here. Same seals that came with the tranny that I found too. I really should change them just because.

i replaced one of the seals because it was damaged but i'm worried that they aren't seated all the way. yet i can't get them to slide in any farther. does the fsm tell how to install them? i really need to pick one up.

Put the wheels on the ground.
