Hmm I noticed about 3k after my rebuild that there are oil spots under my car often and I had to refill the tranny with like a 1/4 of the fluid. I came to the conclusion that the axle seals are leaking. I thought oh 100k miles they were bound to fail. I took it to a chevron near my house and had them change my seals and they said that I didn't have stock axles in there and they had to get different oil seals. They said it would be fine but I know that the new rebuilt axles I bought were the cause of this.
is it possible that I bought some different kind of axle? They fit in perfectly.
just curious how hard is it to install new boots I didn't want to just put new boots because I had been driving with them torn for I don't know how long so they were probably contaminated and I rebuilt the engine.

Where did you get the axles? Anything is possible. I've purchased a rebuilt axle with one correct end and one incorrect end. The incorrect end look almost exactly like stock, but had the wrong number of splines. That took a couple hours of dicking around to figure out.

kind of a late reply but I got em from winchester auto I can't remember what brand they were though. There were all grey I know that the old ones were like black and green. anyway couple months later and they don't seem to be leaking, might be leaking but not as much as b4. I still get some drips in my driveway.

was it a rebuilt axle? Sometimes when they refurbish axles they sand down a little too much and this could cause a minor leak.
