I have a remanufactured tranny and sometimes have trouble getting it into reverse. Usually happens right after I turn the car on and try to back up. Sometimes takes many attempts to get it into reverse. This has also happened in first but not as bad.

Is there anything I can about this issue without removing the tranny and digging inside of it?

On both dsms i've owned, if you're blocked from going in reverse, try to go in while slowly letting the clutch out and it goes. This worked for my buddy's 99 GS-T back when it was brand new too.

All my cars have done this. Typically when that happens, I'll put it in neutral, let out the clutch, and try again. If it doesn't work, I'll put it in 1st, then neutral and let out the clutch, and it works.

I also try what ^^^ said, it helps line up the gears and allows it to slide into place.

Reverse is unsynchronized. if you can't get into reverse, put it in the revrese slot and slowly come up off the clutch. The teeth will rotate into engagement. It's the way it's designed, not a problem with your trans.
