Hey guys. I'm gunna look into stiffening up my shifter a bit soon, at 161k its gettin pretty sloppy. My question is, what is the most effective way to do this? I've heard of the symborski bushings kits or whatever but I obviously know a short shifter is a good route to go as well.
The other thing I was wondering about was those metal bushings that you put in where the linkage meets the tranny, thatd be cake to do but I was wondering if anyone has tried them out before.

I'm trying to do it low budget so some $150 B&M is outta the question, how is the Fidanza short shifter? TIA !

I don't know about the fidenza short throw but I can vouch for the B&M. I wouldn't pay any less for a shifter I love mine. But I have a buddy that bought the Ebay knock off one and it looks almost identical right down to the bearings for the shaft.

Get the symborski kit. It's only $36 and is definitely worth it. I would also recommend getting the OEM style weighted shift knob from machv while your at it. It's great if you aren't into the flashy knobs that are around these days. It's leather and has nice stitching on it, very heavy too. That's all I have done to my shifting and those two make a very nice improvement over stock for very little money.

i may get one of those to replace my greddy knob; having your hand burned everytime you step in your car during the day gets kind of old.

shift kit, shorter shifter, check your tranny like the clutch and stuff, get urethane bushings

I can vouch for the Weighted Black Leather Mitsu Shift Knob from MachV. It is great for the money. It seems to raise the knob height a bit and takes a little getting used to, but once you do, It makes a world of difference. I love mine to death.

I just got a Razo 340gram from dsmparts.com . Its chrome/leather grip and I love it! Do the short shifters drop the shift height at all? if so, that'd be very welcomed b/c I hate how our shifters sit so tall.

I think they lower it a little bit, but if money is an issue just cut some off of your stock shifter and weld it back together.

It's not THAT big of an issue, I would just rather buy a fidanza for 70 or an OBX knockoff for 40 over paying 150 for a B&M.

Well I ended up buying a symborski kit and a knockoff B&M replica off ebay for 50 bucks. I'll update with my opinion after I get them and install them $$
