4716, HELP! clutch won't engage
Posted by Murfsmaster, Aug-17-05 08:43 AM
Alright, so i tried searching and found nothing like my problem. I was driving and i took it out of 4th gear to slow down. Once i came to a stop, i put it in 1st and the clutch wouldn't engage. I popped the hood and found that my master cylinder had no fluid in it. So i get it towed home and filled it up and bled the line. There is now pressure in the pedal but the clutch still won't engage. I have no cxlue what the problem could be so any help at this point would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

Can you see the clutch fork moving under the hood?

Won't engage, or won't disengage?

sounds liek the throwout bearing may not be seated properly if the clutch wont engage. Can you put the car in gear without pushing in the clutch.

the car won't engage. And Terry, i can put the car in any gear without pushing the clutch pedal. Would a bad reservoir (either one) cause this problem? I'm kind of out of ideas as of now. Thanx for all of the help so far guys, i really appreciate it.

with the engine running and not touching the clutch you can put the car in gear? you are going to have to pull the trans bud, sorry to say it man. a bad slave or master wont cause the scenario above. Either the TB is on wrong or clutch failure.
