Ok well I just bought myself a brand new stage 4 clutch right!!! It all started on a Friday after work. I came home and a buddy of mine came over and we got started on taking the tranny out. It was about 1am when we finally got the tranny out and slip so I could take the tranny to get the input shaft bearings pressed in before we installed the clutch.

So Sat morning comes and I take the tranny to get the bearings pressed in along with a couple other odds and ends I need to finish up the job! Get the tranny back home and realize that the guy pressed the bearing is wrong. So we attempt to straighten it and got it as close as we could. So we work like dogs to try and get the tranny bolted back up and man it was a bitch to say the least! After hours of wrestling with this tranny it slides in, but only after the TOB kept falling out...whoever designed the TOB clips is a complete retard and apparently has never installed a tranny before!

Where was I...oh yeah, so the tranny is in and we get a couple other things done like the A arms bolted back up and we called it a night because we were beat.

Sunday around 1pm we start on her again and get everything put in and together. Take it for a drive and man if feels great. I am taking it easy so I can break it in good. We drive around for a couple miles and one time in second once it was engaged I gave it a little gas and it slipped. So we pulled over and looked at were the clutch pedal was set and then under the car.....and there we say oil dripping from the bottom of the tranny casing. We immediately take it home and jack it up. The oil got in the bellhousing!!!

So the input shaft bearing was messed up and now I have to pull the tranny again and have a new input shaft bearing installed.

SIGH* you win some you loose some! Its not going to take as long this time, because A: we really weren't in a hurry in the first place and did some side projects like make some custom EGR block off plates for the head as well as the intake mani! I just used some left over diamond plate that was laying around in my garage from me making some floor mats!

Ok well that it...just wanted to share my hecktic weekend!

Nuts man. That's nuts. I hate fucking with the transmission on the car. I'd rather yank the engine that try getting that bitch out on her own. :P

ive never had a problem with the input shaft bearing/seal ever. anyways if you need one, i have one sitting around, brand new.

I do need one, but I am going to try the dealership first and let them pay for shipping. Thanks for the offer though grain.

I also need a new clutch disk too since they are pourous and got tranny oil all over it. *sigh* Well I found out what the guy did wrong while pressing the bearing in. He pressed it in from the top of the tube on ISB and not the actual bearing part itself, and when he added the pressure to press it, it bent the tube.

Now I have a question, what are all the ways that oil could get into the bellhousing besides throught the ISB?

Update: The guy at the tranny shop pressed the ISB in wrong. For those that know what that bearing looks like, well he pressed it in from the top of the shaft putting all the pressure on the base of that shaft causing it to bend and buckle in. I called the guy on it and he denied it all.

So I bought a ISB off of grain yesterday (thanks btw grain!) and had to get a new clutch plate and centering tool to fix my brand new clutch due to the tranny oil getting into the bellhousing. Oh yah and more tranny oil had to be purchased. I just need to find a tranny shop that can press in a simple ISB. I mean if you work at a tranny shop and can't press a simple ISB in correctly....then I really feel sorry for you.

I will let you know once I get it all redone and back on the road. I am thinking about doing a step by step write up with pics on how to take the tranny out and replace the clutch, as well and the reverse process of putting it all back together. Unless there is one out there already!

Stack some big sockets on it, or a section of pipe, and hit it with a hammer.

HOo-rah. That trick comes in handy so many different times when rebuilding these cars, doesn't it. }(
