Aright, i was basically coming off the off ramp from the local interstate, and honestly , stupidly forced the car into first gear (while the clutch was pushed in mind you) .... on the downward slope of doin 80mph. I heard what i've heard a few times before which sounds like something spooling up to catch up with the speed of the tranny or something, then i heard a boom, and all of a sudden , no nothin...

--no clutch pedal pressure
--can freely shift into any given gear without pedal depressed
--obviously not being able to drive anywhere (unless i'm coasting down a hill
--car runs rough not smoothly

Yeah, i know, i'm guessing everyone is wanting to beat the living crap out of me right now... and for the record, flame away... i'll admit i shouldn't have been pressing into 1st


I guess the thing that just confuses me, is that i had my clutch pushed in... as in , i was in neutral... there was no drive to any gear from the engine... Whats up? blow the clutch? flywheel?... blow the tranny all toll?

better start pulling the tranny

If you heard a "boom" it can't be good dude. Like said above, the only way to really know what you're looking at is to pull the transmission. You'll know right away once you get it out what you're dealing with. If the clutch assembly and flywheel look Ok, then it's got to be the tranny. If so, crack the bellhousing and enjoy the mess. Don't forget to drain the fluid first.

Clutch issue. Bet you scattered the disc and / or the pressure plate.

Weather or not the clutch was pushed in, you killed the tranny. If you let out on the clutch you would have blown the motor. Same goes for the tranny, everything in the tranny is still spinning, you put it in first and now first gear is spinning way beyond what it was ment to, weather the clutch was pushed in or not. Learning the hard way sucks but it's the best way.
