4207, Tranny on the way out..possibly replacement. Posted by RxR_Eclipse, Apr-08-05 04:05 AM
Well guys I think this tranny has seen its day's. For the last year or so it has been difficult to grab 3rd and shudders when put into reverse horribly. I can get a 2002 neon base model tranny for about 400$. Is this a good price?
Edit: That 400$ one has 17K on it. I can get another with 70K on it for 100$ cheaper.

Go for the cheaper one. 90% of the junkyard transaxles i've seen for our cars are pristine inside regardless of milage. With stock output going through them, these transaxles are eternal.

That is what I was thinking too. I read that the only thing I need to change from the 2002 is the bell, shifter levers and the mounts, which I can source from my current tranny correct?

All you ned is the shift levers, which might be the same. Everything else is idential.
