I have a 97 Eclipse GS. I am looking at getting a CM Stage 3 clutch. I would also like to get a lightened flywheel at the same time. The whole modular/non-modular thing confuses me, even after 2 hours of searching.
Please tell me exactly which parts I will need to complete this upgrade.

800-988-4345. Ask for Andy Pifer. Tell him Veesna from Connecticut sent you. I had clutch masters 4, and I swear by the DXDF clutch from Southbend. You'll thank me cuz it cost less than half the price of CM. Our cars have modular clutch, which means pressure plate, clutch and flywheel are riveted together and gets bolted to a starter plate. A non modular doesn't use a starter plate. It's a pressure plate bolted to a flywheel with the clutch in between. In simple terms our flywheel doesn't have teeth, the set up needs to be bolted to a starter plate that has the teeth. A non modular clutch uses a flywheel with the teeth on it with all 3 pieces bolted together instead instead of riveted.

Would anyone else out there have some valuable advice? -Especially on the CM Stage 3 clutch setup? I would like to have the highest quality parts. I don't mind paying more if what I get is worth it.

christ dude, did you not just read what I said about CM? I had the stage 4 and it went within less than a year. You know what? Buy a CM stage 3 or 4, they cost the same. Only reason why I'm the only answering you is cuz my advice is valuable and the everyone else knows it. Use search. Better yet get the ACT2600. Ask Darkone aka Dino where you can find one.

He gave you excellent advice. Do you have better than $10,000 invested in your engine? Are you running high boost on a larger turbo into a fully built engine and track it all the time? If you haven't even torn into the engine yet, you really don't need anything more than a PT Cruiser clutch from Bob Kise or Chrysler Parts Direct. Spending more money on a high end clutch you don't need is dumb, but if you want a 400hp-capable clutch for your 145hp NT, go for it. :rolleyes

Don't sweat it brotha. My response was kind of rude, cuz I was irrate about something else. Nothing to do with this thread. Like Driggs said, he made a valid point about how much power you're putting to the wheels. If you call Andy up at southbend, he'll answer everyone of your questions. I'm not trying to sell his product at all. But he is very valuable to this community because he's been building clutches just as long as CM, and he doesn't charge an arm and a leg. We don't have a lot of aftermarket support when it comes to drivetrain, but Andy can hold it up fine.
