3870, need help w/ my clutch problems Posted by reeveso, Jan-11-05 04:32 PM
i know this should prob be in the manual trans section but i never get any responses from their...so heres my problem...out of nowhere my car coudlnt shift into gear unless i pumped it..took it to my mechanic, he bled the line, happenede again a few days later, bled it again...and now its startin to do it again, he said its most likely my slave master cylinder not bein able to hold the fluid?..which i think sounds correct, im just wonderin how much im gonna be lookin at here...anybody have an idea?

get an estimate. or buy one yourself and change it out. although not reccomended if you don't know what you're doing.

Most likely will be your clutch master cylinder, or the slave cylinder, both of which are not that hard to replace. As far as pricing, the master isn't cheap, like 80+ bucks from a dodge dealer, and the slave is a bit cheaper than that..Try your local auto parts stores also. I believe Napa has them or can get them also.

Check for leakage inside your car up near the clutch pedal. If it is leaking inside, then you may get away with a clutch master cylinder rebuild kit(NAPA $13).
