3840, rre ss clutch line install question??
Posted by Eclipse99fwb, Jan-02-05 02:12 PM
ok i was installing the rre ss clutch line this weekend, my question is about the metal clutch line and where it connects to the top rubber line. I was trying to turn the fitting and it started to strip, i was using a believe a 10mm open end wrench. so i left it alone and finished the other things i was doing. What should i do to avoid stripping it to replace the rubber hose and lower metal clutch line. thanks in advance and searched but couldnt find anything.

Try a flare wrench. it's like a box-end, but with a small section removed. it wraps around the fitting more completely and is less likely to strip it.

If its already stripped, try some vice grips.

I use vice grips to install and remove flare fittings. Particularly those in the braking system. Mine are perfectly round, if not for the tooth marks in them from the vice grips. :D

ok thanks for the advice, the rest of the clutch line was easy to remove when i was doing my clutch master cylinder rebuild, just that one location under the ecu that was giving me trouble. Thanks again if i need any other help ill post, otherwise i should have it in this weekend.
