3735, wierd clutch/master cyl/slave cyl Posted by rpm97talon, Dec-09-04 03:54 AM
Alright dino I've got one for you. I just put in a brand new clutch(mcloed) yesterday. I put in a master and slave cyl within the past 6 months.
Heres the wierd deal when i start the car the car lunges to a start. But get this after I let the clutch out the clutch dissengages. I'm not sure if something is binding a part is bad or what. The unorthodox clutch went then the centerforce went so now I'm trying the mcloed rev lock 2. As far as the tranny it seems to go through all the gears fine. Tell me what you think. late mike

So you start it, it lurches like the clutch is engaged, but once the engine is running you can hop off the clutch (in neutral, of course) and it doesn't move?
Lemme know if i've got that right.

nope I had it up on stands and when you start the car the wheels start spinning. But when i let off the clutch the wheels stopped. I didnt try shifting after that. With the car on the ground I started it and it lurched fwd. It was super late and I called it a night.

I'd bleed it first just to make sure its not a hydralic problem.
Have you taken a look at the trans fluid?

The fluid is brand new mt90 andmtl from red line. Why would the tranny fluid matter. Do you think this could be a tranny problem? if so how? late

Remember that input shaft you killed? The 3rd gear needle bearing was demolished (i later managed to take it apart). If you've got a gear binding, it'll lurch like that and act like its in gear. This usually causes lots of heat, which will cause the fluid to darken and break down. If the fluid looks okay, I'd say that's not the case. If it looks dark and cruddy, well.. Looks like we'll be rebuilding your trans. I've become quite good at it. :-)
First though, I'd bleed the clutch hydralics and make sure the slave cylinder is moving when you're on the pedal.

You got time this weekend to swing by and take a look at it? Its just really strange because with the centerforce it would lunge when you start then slip when you drive. The old center force showed signs of bluish internals. But I dont know. This thing is really getting to be a pain in the ass. The clutch was 850$ so it set me back a little. Well let me know. late mike
