I was driving home from the shop and I was shifting from 3rd to 4th just crusing along, when it wouldn't let me put it into 4th, and it got jammed somewhere against the syncros and just SCREAMED and made grinding noises and I couldn't get it out of the jam, untill I slowed to about 20 mph. Now my car wines like it has a massive supercharger in any gear. Sometime's it's extremely hard to get it into *first* gear.

I'll look under the hood in the morning to see if I can find anything. Could a dead slave cylinder get it stuck like that? My clutch has less than 6k miles on it.

I hope I don't have another !@$%ed transmission. I have spent $3500 in the last 2 years getting screwed over with faulty transmissions/parts.

you got screwed with tranny costs. i got a 3.94 for 135 shipped and a 3.55 for 70 picked up.

Yeah I got shafted in the ass, a few times.

There reason it cost so much was it was a brand new tranny with a mopar 3/33 warranty (and some other reasons, that go into a long story somewhere on this board).

I took my car for a drive and it wined really bad for a little while in every gear, but now it's starting to go away, first gear feels like it's mush going into it.

Also, I have oil dripping from my slave cylinder, could this be coming from the rear main or somewhere else? The rear main was replaced a year ago, and the clutch fluid level hasn't changed since I've last bleed it.

Now my car sounds like a machine gun when I'm decelerating only while physically moving. Does anyone know what is causing this? Is my diff about to explode again?

something is gonna explode if you dont pull the tranny. imo

It's pulled and sent to the stealership so they can honor the warranty I have on it.

I'll let you know what happened in the tranny to cause those problems.

Thank goodness, they deteremind the original one I got to be faulty, so they are just giving me a brand new one. :)

You've got to be kidding me...

I got my car back and went to drive home, got onto the interstate, and when I went to shift to 5th gear, nothing. My engine just spun like it was in neutral, and you could hear the syncros just spinning around.

I believe either a) the re-man tranny I got simply didn't have a fifth gear in it, or b) it was installed backwards. So, it's back getting another new tranny in. This has got to be some kind of record.

After not having my car for so long 1st through 4th sure did feel good.

I just talked to them and they said they replaced the 5th gear syncros, and put the tranny back in again. Now it engages 5th gear, but it pops out as soon as you stop holding it into place.

Does this sound like 5th gear is in backwards to anyone else?

It's a helical cut gear. It is physically impossible to put it in backwards, not to mention the syncro cone is only on one side.

Sounds like they replaced the syncro ring, but not the gear itself. If the dog teeth are work on the gear, you can replace syncro rings all day and it won't do a damn thing.

You were right dino, turns out the dogs were messed up on the gear, so it was replaced and now all is good. I made sure to have the safing brackets put in while it was apart. Hopefully I won't have any more transmission problems.
