I just installed a missing link in my car tonight, I disconnected the negative battery terminal for 15 min as per the instructions and when I went to start it it ran really rich for about 30 sec, then as I was driving the clutch became stiffer and would not disengage properly, also there is a chatter coming from the tranny when it is in gear and the clutch is pushed in. Is there any way that the ECU can affect the clutch? If not what else could it be?

Update: I took it out and drove it around some, if I drive slowly, and acelerate slowly, it shifts and feels fine. If I accelerate quickly the clutch pedal becomes heavy and hard to get in and out of gears but gradually goes back to normal. Any ideas?

Ok, I bleed the clutch about 10 times, and went through about 2.5 bottles of dot 3 fluid. It helped temporarily, the the problem is still there. However, I did notice that there is fluid all over the bottom of the oil pan by the location of the slave cylinder. Could it be possible that I need to replace the slave cylinder?

hmm. could be, is there any fluid leaking form it?? you should be able to see a pathway coming right from it if it is leaking. can you tell what kind of fluid is on the oil pan?? motor oil/DOT3/tranny fluid?? smell it, "follow your nose, it always knows"(thanks toucan sam) anyways, good luck :beer

I got it figured out, it really wasn't anything with the clutch at all. One of my motor mounts broke and the engine was torquing down on the clutch when I accelerated. Now I just gotta fix it, good thing I ordered a set of motor mounts from howell motors 3 days ago.

wait... by chatter do you mean your clutch vibrated? when i accelerate WOT, somethimes my clutch vibrates a lot afterwards when shifting, and after a little bit of normal driving it will go away. then one time i started it and it was vibrating from start up but it always slowly goes away... could that be my problem? is that what you had? thanks
