3266, Neon speedo gear/clutch break-in info needed Posted by Dave41079, Aug-02-04 08:52 PM
I put in a Non-ACR/Non-R/T Neon tranny in my car. It has the 3.94 final drive, but a .72 5th gear. Will the speedometer be correct using the speedo sensor from the Neon tranny, or do I need to use the one from my old tranny?
#2: I put in a Fidanza and Spec Stg 3 6 puck. How long do I need to break in the ceramic clutch? The paper they sent said 450mi, I was just wondering if this was correct or if it was less. I hardly ever shift over 3500 anyways, but I don't want to screw anything up.

The Neon sensor will read wrong. use your sensor.
break in the clutch per the manufacturer's suggestions.

Just an FYI in case anyone searches later on. I didn't have to swap speedometer gears. I guess because this Neon tranny had the 3.94 final drive ratio instead of the 3.55 it reads fine.
The clutch break-in is as follows:
Just normal around town driving without launching or speed shifting(for 450 miles). Any rpm is ok, just refrain from racing for the period stated. This procedure will allow for the best clutch performance and life.

The manufacture's directions are always the first you should look at and last to discard.
