3062, Transmission is acting strange
Posted by Slow420a, Jun-26-04 06:21 PM
The other day i was cruiseing in 3rd and wen to shift and it wouldnt budge out of 3rd. So i pulled over and shut her off and finally got it out of gear by pulling really hard. But now the shifter feels looser and not wanting to go into gear. In 3rd and 5th gear it feels like its bearly getting into gear and occainsly pops out. Im preety sure its the shift linkages but i wanted more opinions. Any thoughts on what could it be. Also what is involved in replacing the shifter bushing new transmission fluid and flush etc maintnence.

thanx, ricky

go under your hood. on the far right side as your looking at it, you'll see your clutch master cylinder. its right on the firewall and has a nonthreaded white cap. pop that off and see if there is any fluid in there. if there isn't, go get some dot3 clutch fluid or brake fluid and put it in there and bleed ur clutch. ull need a bleeder kit or a friend to push the pedal while you work the little valve by the slave cylinder. if your pedal feels soft, or engages high on the pedal than this could be why. otherwise, see if you need to tighten up your shifting linkage.

When you shut the car off it should come out of gear with no difficulties. You have internal problems my friend. Check the linkage to make sure but if thats ok then its inside.

For the record....when the car is off, clutch fluid doesnt make a bit of difference......
