had to replace the tranny with a used one and i got it all back together and it wont go into gear. the shifter wont move to 2nd, 3rd, or reverse. it feels like it will go into 1st and 3rd but it just grinds when i release the clutch. i tried unhooking the linkage and putting it into gear from under the hood but it does the same thing, just grinds when i release the clutch. i cant find any gear doing it that way. the lever on top of the tranny thats closest to the block will only move into two positions when i think it should have 3 (correct me if im wrong) and the lever away from the block doesnt want to move at all, just a little play. i just want to know if the tranny is bad or ive just not got the linkages hooked up right. it seems to me that something is bound up inside on wont let it go into gear. like i said, i got under the hood unhooked the linkages and tried to put it into gear that way but nothing would work. is there a trick to it or am i gonna have to do it all over again and get another tranny?

I say open the trans up and take a look see....but off the top of my head i would say that trans is SCREWWED.
