k so i got in my car this morning an started it up and it is hard as hell to get it in and out of gear. to the point where i had to kill the engine to get in and out of reverse so i could pull onto the road. once the engine's off the shifter feels fine, just like it did up until today. but if the engines running it's very hard to shift in AND out of gear (had to use both hands a couple times while driving to work). does anyone know what's causing this? it's pretty irritating... the feels normal as far as i can tell...

i dunno if this is related but yesterday i had to ghetto-rig a temporary short ram intake. it's been pouring like hell since yesterday and i almost hydrolocked on the way to work. so before i drove home i tooke off the CAI extension on my intake. this left a short pipe coming from the intake. however it was too closk to the head and battery so i couldn't fit on the cone filter. as a result i had to cut up my shirt and clamp it on over the intake pipe as a temporary filter. the car ran fine all the way home (shifter felt fine too) and i my car was saved from hydrolocking in more than one instance. my ghetto short ram is still on there so idk if that's affecting anything.

if anyone knows what's causing this or what else i should check it'd be greatly appreciated. thanks! :thumbsup

how many miles do you have on the clutch itself? Do you drive it really hard. I mean like drag race all the time and everything else? Mine is doing the same thing and I have driven the car like hell. I blead my clutch and still have the same problems as before. Maybe you should try that and then see if that works. If not I would take it to a tranny shop and let them check it out. Or call and tell them the problem. Hope this helps

i'm pretty sure it's the stock clutch and i'm at about 125k now... i don't drive it overly hard, but a little spirited driving every now and then. i just find it strange that it only does it while the engine's running. with the engine off it slips into every gear with no problem. and it doesn't grind when i try to get in and out of gears with the engine running... it's just hard as hell.

Beats me, sounds like a syncro problem to me (but what do I know)

Check how much oil you have in the trans.

i kinda doubt it's the syncros b/c it's like this going in and OUT of ALL gears... that'd take some talent to blow all the syncros at once... absolutely NO grinding either.

it weird - it feels like somethings not lined up right when i try to shift with the engine running. like the shifter can't bend the way it should. works perfect with the engine off though... :P

oh, i haven't gotten to check any fluids since i've been working all day...

my tranny is doing the same, when the car is off, it slides right into gear with no problem, but not when it is on. I would call a local shop and see what they say.

haha k problem solved... clutch fluid hella low. idk how that happened. i hope i don't have a leak cause it kinda seemed like it happened all of a sudden. but yea, i checked the level and the reservoir was bone dry. idk when the last time i ever checked it was... refilled it and bled and the cars back to normal. thanks!
