1957, What to do? Posted by TJEclipse, Jan-01-04 11:29 AM
Ok, I bleeded my clutch today and it still has the same problem as before, it sticks going into first and into second. There was alot of air in the line when I blead it, and We thought that it would take care of the problem. My friend says I might need a new Clutch slave cylender (SP?) Is this true?? If so it is a satan only item which sucks. Anyone have any idea what this might be? Thanks

Well, I would try to reblead one more time to be sure. Then all you have left is a leak, slave cylinder or Master cylinder. Im not to sure what you mean by sticking. Could you try to explain more.

well, we rebleeded like 3 or 4 times yesterday cause it is really easy to do plus to make sure no air was in the lines at all. Afterwards, i got into the car and put it in reverse and it stuck and grinded going back into first. I drove the car and second grinds and does not want to go into gear unless I make it go into gear. Third, Fourth and Fifth are fine, I dont have any problems getting them to go into gear. I called my local transmission shop and they said that it could be a pressure plate. Now, my friend is wanting to know how hard is it to replace the clutch and pressure plate. Do you have to take the motor out of the car? If so we are going to replace the rear main seal and front main seal, and the timing belt and water pump and head gasket. Would you do this?
