I messaged hurican gs and he said he dosent do the short shift thing nemore so Is there a way I can do it myself without welding that anyone else has tried? I saw a writeup somewhere on the internet but cant find it....or would I haveto take it to a muffler shop like Ive found doin searches and ask them?...what muffler shops did anyone take theirs to?..

Are you asking if there is a way to shorten your stock shifter's throw w/o welding it? ... Not that I've heard of, just take your shifter to an exhaust shop and have them cut a section out, or better yet buy a real aftermarket short (throw) shifter.

Well depending on how short you want it, you could just cut it and get a diffrent shift knob to put on it. It won't be a screw on type but you wouldn't have to weld anything.

its better to cut the section, and get it welded back together. that way u can use the stock shift knob(i realy hate aftermarket shit knobs...) there is a write up where to get it cut and re-welded... you could probably cut it yourself to make sure that it's cut right then make sure the person who welds it together does it straight and not crooked at all! i'm gonna get this done soon hopefully, but i'd love to get a B&M instead, just too much $$ for me right now...

I found a used b&m for $80...they don't really get "old" with use, so a used one is basically as good as new. I would HIGHLY advise getting the B&M. It actually doesn't change the height of the shifter as much as the throw. The throw is a HUGE difference. Well worth it. Like driving a whole new car.

I used to have a short shifter, the pace setter one, and it sucked. So I cut like an 1 inch and a half off of my stock one and brought that into to a muffler shop and the guy charged me $10 to weld it back. For me it is far better that a short shifter kit and still shortens the throws. I guess it is just up to you, if you wanna cut your stock, there is a few write-ups in Mods up there.:thumbsup

i talked to a guy at a muffler shop in advance about welding my shifter. I took my car there with a few tools removed my shifter in the parking lot and had him cut and reweld it. Just put it back in and went upon my way.
