1128, Clutch disk alignment help Posted by mkerley, Aug-07-03 08:46 AM
I'm planning on putting my clutch in this weekend (custom non modular setup). The writeups I've seen on it say to use a clutch alignment tool. I called Autozone for their tool rental and they claim that they don't have those in their loaner tools. Is it necessary or is it that helpful? Should I go buy one?
TIA, Matt

Yes, you HAVE to center the clutch disk before you bolt everything together.

Thanks!
I read it before you edited and didn't really understand what you were saying. Luckily, I found a tool that will fit. No one here claims to have the right tool, so I took my disk in and found a tool that fit. It's #60 at Autozone BTW for anyone looking later.
I'm trying to remove the axles now and crossing my fingers that everything goes smoothly.

yeah the way i described it wouldnt have worked after i thought about it..the whole clutch assembly would need to be off the car and bolted together- you cant do that with a non modular flywheel.. but good you got it figured out
