1053, LSD and CM stage 4 install
Posted by mitsudsr, Jul-26-03 08:57 AM
I am buying the New School LSD and CM stage 4 clutch and need to install them. I currently to not have the resources to do the install myself and was wondering how difficult the install really is. I want to just send it to a local transmission shop to do the install. Well I am in Oklahoma right now and their import perfomance knowledge is lacking. Is this install easy enough that any trans shop can do it. I do not want to send it to the dealer if I can avoid it they are of course $$$$. Also about how long shoudl I expect the install to take, like maybe 7 hours or so? Thanks for any help,
Patrick

If you are talking about just installing the LSD, then its pretty simple to do IMO, if you have the wrench skills. If you can install a turbo kit, then this is no problem. All you have to do is take apart the trans, pull out the diff, tap out the dif pin, slide in the LSD(if you got the PG, or the New skool one), or just replace the diff if you got the Quaife LSD), pund the pin back in, install the pin safing brackets(you will need to buy those from a dodge dealer), then put back in the diff, the get some anerobic sealant for the trans casings, then greese the shit out of the output bearing so that it stays into the race in the bellhousing side, then carefully lower the bellhousing back onto the trans. It will prob get hung up on the 4 shifter rods in the trans, I just took a small screwdriver to push the rods into their holes in the bellhousing side, and it slid right into place. Torqe the casing bolts to 21ft lbs, and you are done..Any trans shop can do it, but i would ask first if they know what a slip in LSD is first, before they do anything, if that is waht you have..If its a Quaife LSD, than thats a no brainer..The clutch is a piece of cake if you got the trans out, so no biggie there..

Thanks I read the instructions and it did not seem to look that difficult. I will deffinitely ask if they know what a slip in LSD is thanks.
