4269, Clutch clamp force vs. Cars torque output Posted by bzoss, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
Here is something that no one I talk to seems to have the answer to, but I know you guys are all over it.
Does clutch clamping force relate directly to the cars torque output?
Example:
If my car lays down 200 ft-lbs of torque, and my clutch handles 200 ft-lbs of torque, is that enough clamping force for the clutch to hold?
Basically is it 1:1 like that?? Or is it something like if you have 200 ft-lbs of torque you need a clutch with 400 ft-lbs of clamping force to hold on to the torque you put out?
Does that make sence what I am asking? I am horable about formulating questions. Anyhow, if you need clarificaiton just say so.
Thanks
