Welp. Dirty Ill quit whining about how stupid the A604 is tommorow (hopefully). We had my transmission taken out of the place that wanted to charge us 2000+labor for a new built transmission to a place closer to my dads work in Nashville. The first quote of the new place was something like 1700 for the rebuild because they had to replace the planatary gear set.

What happened with the second transmission btw was the torque converter exploded....yikes right? Scared the piss outta me on I 65 going 60mph towards a corner.

Anyway, they got to rooting around the two transmission I now ownx( and they said "hey the planatarys in the older tranny with the hole in it look brand new we'll use them." That dropped nearly 500 off the price:). So now its only like 1300 for an almost complete rebuild. They're replacing pretty much everything other than major hard parts. I believe he called it a "soft rebuild" or something.

Mcgyvr - nope stock internals. Don't really have much of a choice, not my money. Although ill be paying the rents back til im about 50, jk. Called the guy and he just said OE parts. I assume Chrysler parts.

Im real excited about getting it back to see if all my old problems are gone. Rough shifting, rough accelerating and just an all around rough feel. My tranny seemed more like hard core porn than softcore. If that analogy works:thumbsup

Going to get it today so ill post how it feels once I get it back.

Okay...so it blew up...AGAIN. Third fuckin time guys. This time it was the diff pin breaking again.

My advice to the turbo guys and the guys pushing power to that diff:
Get the Chrysler brackets to reenforce that pin. You'll shit your pants once I get my camera to the shop to take pictures of the tiny pin that holds that pin inside the spider gears in...its rediculous.

chrylers design is fine, its your tranny rebuilder, they fuckin suck.
thats ridiculous, 1 week or so and you blow the pin through, what a joke, I bet they didnt even put the pin in that holds the dif pin.


yes def have them weld the pin or get the mopar dif pin safety clips, make sure they grind off the top so it doesnt hit the speedo gear.

and have them add a bag of dirt and metal shavings, maybe it will last longer :)

Ummm...Chrysler design is NOT fine. Are you a transmission specialist...no I didnt think so. There have been safety bulletins on that part...

This is the second time that pin has broken. First time on the original miles transmission, 2nd time on the 2nd transmission. Theres a pattern. And no i havnt had hte car for a week, had it for about 20miles. 29 miles the first time, 20 this time. Its that diff not the mechanics.

LMAO - tommorow things will be ok!!! Getting those brackets installed today and will pick it up tommorow. Having the shop drive it to my house, bout 20-30 miles from me. Then gunna drive them back to the shop. That way thats about 40-60 miles that it can break with him in the car:). So he can feel any sorta differences that he shouldnt be feeling and such.

how much they charge you to weld the diff. pin joe?

They arnt welding it. Heard its not good to weld for traction issues. Havnt looked into that enough to assure myself. So instead they are putting the supplemental bracketing around the diff to reenforce the diff.

I dont think they are charging us for that since they have already rebuilt the transmission (soft overhaul). Just 8 dollar parts. So since they didnt really "fix" the problem the first time they wont charge us for labor, i hope, and just charge us for the brackets. They've been very nice to us.

btw this is the second place we've taken it. THe other place was bullshitting us the whole time.

No, we took it to one other place actually, a "reputable" place around Franklin. My dad works at the Vanderbilt Marriot in Nashville, and his associates recommended this place called "All Pro Transmissions". Siad they did really good work. So we took it there and they have done good work. its not their fault the diff broke. they didnt rebuild that...

I still think who ever rebuilt your tranny the first time fucking sucked. and the second guy should have noticed/inspected your dif pin when he rebuilt it again.

and youd be amazed at what roll pins like that hold together in huge machinery,etc..

The first guys didnt rebuild it, though. The second guys did rebuild it, as far as a soft overhaul. I guess they should have looked at the diff knowing that its a weak part, according to them. we'll see what happens today and ill keep ya'll posted.
