4706, Auto tranny upgrade?

Hey I have a 98 eclipse rs auto and I hate how it shifts :(. I went to my trusted tranny specialist and asked if I could tune the tranny. At first he said hell yeah but then he realized I had the chrysler tranny in the car. He told me if I did tune it by the end of a 1/4 mile drag the tranny would be toast. But I heard that shift kits help relieve stress on the tranny. I was wondering if I put a good shift kit in it and then tune it would the transmission be alright?

don't worry at the end of the 1/4 mils with your stock RS , the 83 mph you will reach after close to 18 seconds of drag is nowhere near to be dangerous to your transmission !
