I've seen the sender put in a lot of places....easiest being to tee off with compression fittings in the cooler line useing the (out)to cooler, and putting the sender in the tee and boom your finished. I believe that all trannny temp gauges are pretty much all universial so which ever one you get will have it's recomended directions with it.....autometers are like 50 bucks

You can put the sender in the cooler lines, but that is often a "worst case" temp. To get an idea of the overall blended temperature, put it in the trans pan. I've done both.

yea the cooler line is the easiest to do......It didn't sound like he would be comfortable doing it the right way and to put it in the pan.The easiest is sometimes better. If you do the tranny cooler line way make sure you use the outlet as you will get the temps coming from the tranny not the cooler.
