I chnaged my tranny fluid today and at the bottom of the pan I ended up finding the normal amount of small shavings on the magnet but also these small pieces of metal. What do you think they could be??

Stick a pencil in there so we can get an idea of the scale. I doubt they are small enough to go through the transmission; I wonder if they came off of a filter. First look they look like gasket pieces, but you said they were metal, so they aren't gaskets.

I can't tell what those pieces are but damn that shit shouldn't be sitting in the bottom of your pan. Hows the tranny acting?

i was going to say the same thing, i really dont know what that is, and ive had my trans apart :\

they look like rotted pan gasket pieces to be honest w/ ya. there is nothing thaT looks like that in the tranny internals , and ive been through mine 3 times (dont ask) lol but ya stick a pen in the pic or even a quarter if they r that small. plus if u can break one if half and let up see the inside.. i am willing to bet they are remnents of an old gasket

Hey, I hope that the pieces are from part of the old gasket only thing is that they are metal. The tranny has been running pretty smooth I would say. The pieces of metal to me look like ends of a snap ring. Are there any snap rings inside of the transmission?? Also here is a picture of the pieces to scale. let me know what you think

I don't see how a snapring could have broke up inside the tranny and made its way down there but I guess it could be possible. I think the remnants of a trans pan gasket sounds more than likely.

so how bad would it be if its that??

nope i am def 100% sure that is a snap ring...!!!!!!could be dangerious. id puul your valve body and check the accuators.. most lickly came from there... also its always good to clean your valvbody out too when doing any type of tranny maintance...*USE A OIL BASED CLEANER* like paint thinner... no de-geasers , no laquer thinners, no 409's!! brakes cleaner works too.
but if i were u i'd def. pull the valve body....one of those pieces gets into your valvbody and its trans burn city!

Thanks for the help, but Im a lil bit confused of what u mean by valve body and accuators. If you could clear this up it would be great

ok when u remember when u pulled your pan and filter there was an aluminum plate with about 40 bolts in it? lol thats your valve body. remover the tranny linkage and slide it down about 3-4 inches on your right side-closest to the front of the car there will be a lil snap ring (hard as hell to see) remove that and continue to drop the valve body/ (do this very slowly and as level as possible to pistons (accuators) will drop w/ it so be carfull and remember where everything goes. after this u should be able to see where that broken snap ring is :)
