I've been neglecting to post these forever.

Tools needed:

32mm socket, 36mm socket, Impact wrench, steeringwheel puller

CORRECT WAY to pull the gears:

Use Blue Loctite!

Slips: before-braketorque, before-regular, after-braketorque, after-regular

Before (Stock) using Brake-torque launch:
R/T: .767
60': 2.742
330: 7.209
1/8: 10.694
MPH: 71.24

Before (Stock) using regular "Floor It" launch:
R/T: .541
60': 2.751
330: 7.204
1/8: 10.693
MPH: 71.25

AFTER (Final Drive installed) using Brake-torque launch:
R/T: .510
60': 2.643
330: 7.062
1/8: 10.513
MPH: 72.09

AFTER (Final Drive installed) using "Floor It" launch:
R/T: .624
60': 2.541
330: 6.922
1/8: 10.124
MPH: 73.34

Verdict: I shaved 0.57 seconds off my 1/8 mile time, and gained 2mph. Braketorquing is bad.

This would probably translate to a 1+ second improvement and 4-5mph gain in a 1/4 mile.

I didn't feel it was fair to get 1/4 mile times since the car is turboed. Since it doesn't spool in 1/8 mile, these results should be repeatable by a modified nonturbo.

tq breaking isnt bad ... did u go all the way up to stall speed ? if u did there is your problem. you should only hear a small chirp to get the good launch. i release the break around 1800-2000 . ive raced manual versions of our cars with similar mods and this has kept me with them through first gear ... which shouldnt happen ..but it does ..

My car stalls at about 2300-2400 if I recall. I never go all the way up there though, to prevent damage to the tranny. My tranny was 100% stock, no hi-stall convertor.

The "brake torque" launches were all done at about 2000rpm... if you do it often, you can feel when the engine starts to bog... and I had very good launches both times with no bog. They certainly FELT faster, but when I got the timeslips, the braketorque runs were definitely slower... note my reaction time was MUCH worse when braketorquing... normally no big deal, but it's a major factor if you are street racing with no timing lights to see who left first.

I do run larger injectors, a rising fuel regulator, and SAFC, so the effects of bogging the motor might be much worse for me than on a nonturbo with unmodified ECU and fuel trims.

Please post slips of a faster "braketorque" launch than "floor it" launch. But until then... brake torquing is bad (for *my* car anyways) ;)

hells yea dawg the trans cant handle it if u bump that stall to often safe mode insues .... when i do run her hard i always put the a/c on and put her in park ... that way both fans kick on and blows air on the trans. now i know this air feels warm to us but to the trans and engine block this is a cool breeze.

i also noticed that your 60ft time was better during the runs with the power break ..the first one at least .. i have my license back so i will post my results also .. but im also at least 150lbs lighter than most rs' and 275 lighter than a gs

recently i raced charlie aka wutang and i got distracted and left it on during the race ....watta tool ...anywho i lost by a car and a half needless to say at around mid 3rd gear :shrug but once again i kept with him through 1st & 2nd.... he had a good launch and so did i ... im quick on my r/t

fyi i found out that pacifica gears are even shorter, they have a 4.28:1 ratio. they are the same price as all the other gears.

same place you can find any other version of the 604 gears, a dealer. chrysler pacifica transfer gears. should be around 100 bucks.

so you want the pacifica gears over the stratus gears for faster 1/4 times?

actually the pacifica gears have a taller gearing, (but yes a better final drive ratio than the stratus) they make up the difference in the ring/pinion somehow not in the drive gears
so dont use the pacifica gears..

and your floor it technique, is that flooring it with the selector in 1 and letting it redline each gear??

Ive always told everyone brake torquing is NOT faster and thats proof in the slips...

BUT maybe braketorquing with the torque reduction wire cut, now that might be a totally different story

That's putting the transmission in Drive and pressing on the Go pedal.

I think it's called "16 year old girl technique".
