alllllright. Here's a tough one.
Is there ANY way we can wire a set of wires to something like an LED to indicate which gear we are in?
There must be a set of wires somewhere in the TCU or wherever that are hot in any given gear.
Anyone got anyone we can ask about this? Gets confusing not knowing what gear im in and such lol.
Joseph
edit: this will also help to know when to activate the TC lock up, imo, sir.

I had the schematic but it was taken off the site www.atraonline.com I thought I might have it at work Ill check today, but yes its actually pretty simple you just wire up a LED to each of the 4 pins on the TCM for which solenoid is pulled to ground, at that time, but it still wont tell if your in regular 2 or lockup2 etc.. but it will tell 1st,2nd,3rd,4th

So, has anyone done this? From the shop manual, it doesn't look as easy as I thought. It looks like there is a L/R, 2/4, R, OD, and UD solenoid. It looks like a certain combination of solenoids will be energized when the tranmission is in a certain gear (and certain operating mode). As many as 3 solenoids may be energized at one time. It looks like it could get rather messy determining which gear you were in. Still looking for a simple way to do it.

Yea, I dont think it's as simple as "1,2,3,4". On our gear selector and in our minds counting the gear we're in its that easy. But when it comes to the gear combos the tranny is doing, its a lot different. I noticed that looking at the blow up for the tranny.

Maybe your regulator is out in your alternator, or the "alt choke" or w/e its called in the fuse box.
^^ shot in the dark:)
