Havnt been able to take it to the track yet, but i finally got mine worked out. I think my switch was messed up. Bad thing is, i think i had it on lock up off for like 4 days lol. Im not really sure though that it really burns ALL that much fluid, cause my fluid is really pink still.

Last night I was talking to Shuwa about what was on or what was off. So I took it for a ride on the interstate. Went about 70ish, flipped the switch to see what happened. Well, when I turned it up, or ON, the RPMS jumped up. As in, the TC unlocked. When I turned it down, or OFF, the rpms came back down.

Pretty Cool :)

i take it u have to constantly engage and disengage the tq converter ? for daily driving?

When you dont want it to lock you flip the switch.

When you want normal every day driving you leave it flipped to where the TC will lock up if it needs to.

Man I wish I had the guts to do this mod. I've read the write up a few times and Im still scared. Im so afraid of cuting the wrong wire and messing it up. It would help if my AOL would show his pics one more month till cable woohoo:thumbsup

Cool if I get some good pics I'll do it. Norwalk race way is about 20min away once I do the mod I'll test it on the track. just so you know the car runs 18.53 so any thing is an improvment.

So if your switch is in the on mode, it turns the lock-up off, and the off mode turns the lock-up on? The reason I haven't done this yet was because I need an indicator light (for my cars benefit) and I couldn't figure out how to hook one up so that it would come on with the switch in the off position. All this time I thought it turned the lock-up off when you disconnected the current from the wires.

So somebody confirm this. If it's like I think Joe is talking about, then I'm all out of excuses. Better pics would help though.

If the switch is on the torque convertor can lockup. If the switch is off it cannot lock. In order to get an indicator light what you would do is hook up say an led ground lead to the wire that we are using for the switch and run the positive to a positive power source. Now when the switch is on the light is on and when its off the light is off. Just make sure that you splice into the ground on the side that will be disconnected otherwise the light will always be on.

btw guys, off isnt always off and on isnt always on and on isnt always off and off isnt always on. did that make sense:)

The "on", on my switch is actually the "lock up off". And the "off", on my switch, lets the TC lock up.

YOu gotta test it out for yourself. Bring the car to like 60-70, flip the switch and watch what happens. If your RPMs all a sudden jump like 500, you unlocked the TC, make note of what position the switch is in and label it as such. If your RPMs DROP 500 or so, you just locked the TC. Make note of it blablabla

In the write up I just cant see the pics to see what gets cut and spliced. if some one can put the pic up on this post(and aol lets me see it) I will do it. I thought there was more to it than just putting in a switch. Any of you guys should be able to mount a switch:thumbsup and I cant wait to do it when I find the right wire:-)

Yea man its the only black wire down there. Well, the only black wire in the bunch youre worried with.

And I think my CEL came from hooking it up wrong, hehe. My quick connects fucked up, that and I was using it alot when i first did it. Dont worry about it tho, just get the CEL checked out to make sure its that if you should get one.

Isn't the point of a TQ.C bypass switch to FORCE lockup of the TQ.C?

Like when I launch at the track, it really does no good because the TQ.c is just slipping all the way thru 1st and half of 2nd.

It doesn't sound like this mod forces lockup, rather prevents it. Why would you want that? less power? better gas mileage or something? confused, sorry...

EDIT: sorry, i read down a little and figured it out, gawd im such a noob. ;)

Dude, you got it all backwards. You get more power withoult the tq c. locking up and lose the gas mileage.
