1307, HELP! Tranny fluid checking
Posted by Danny95ESI, Jun-20-03 06:41 AM
Hey guys...I did a search and couldn't really find anything about checking tranny fluid (probably my choice of keywords... :P )

I was on the freeway today and at 80 MPH, the car seems to "stumble" a bit...I guess it was a slipping feeling.

I get off the freeway and check my tranny fluid. I put the car in all the gears, throw it in neutral and check the fluid. The fluid is inbetween the "warm" mark but nowhere near the "hot" mark. I drove the car for about a half hour on the freeway...so should it be inbetween the "HOT" mark?

also, if I was running with low tranny fluid for awhile, should I expect my tranny to break down on me anytime soon... :o

If you havnt driven it hard today, take it for a little spin to get your engine to operating temp and then check it on a level surface.

What color is the fluid? Bright pink? Pink? Dull pink? Brown? Black?

it's a nice bright pink like brand new tranny fluid...

I read the CHilton's when I got home....under 15 minutes, it's considered warm....after that, it's HOT. They said only refill under warm conditions. My fluid was definitely low.

Do you think my tranny is going to be screwed now...I'm sure I was driving it with low fluid for a while...

Thanks for the replies...I'll get a flush and fill soon.
