3758, RE: axle beating time Posted by Corbin, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM I'd aim for the shortest possible rod with the widest possible diameter and the biggest hammer you can swing in that tight space. With 3 feet of 1/4" rod, you might not be transferring much of that energy into the axle. That length of thin rod might act like a spring as flexes in the middle. The initial shock is what will drive the axle out, so you have to minimize any spring effect. | |
