Well,
I am getting more serious about selling my 2gnt.
I think I will try to sell it outright for a fair price first, then move it to eBay if I get really serious later on. What do you all think? Besides telling me not to sell her :-) I could use the money to help secure a house in the near future. I am definately not going to whore her out, just for the sake of doing so, she will require a fair sum and respect from the perspective buyer.
Check out the below link. It is bandwidth intensive, but I have put together a decent start to an eBay listing. What do you all think the car is worth? What should I try to get out of her? I was thinking 11K and settle a little lower if need be?
She'll be parked across the road from a 'higher class' high school, or atleast for this area it is... So I figure I can get a little extra from these 'comfortable living' folks.

Well, she's not gone yet...
I am not all that excited about selling her, so I am in no real motivational hurry.
I could just use the money for other things... and since the car doesn't get paid much attention anymore... I figure the time is getting close...
Back on topic: Do these cars generally do better on eBay than selling locally? I have never listed a vehicle on eBay.

You might be doing yourself a favor by selling it on your own. Ebay will get a specific price for listing the vehicle then a certain percentage of what she sells for. I've never sold a vehicle on there but I've moved alot of computer parts and sometimes it can get pricey. Goodluck!

true. ebay does claim a small amount of the auction. but there's a way better chance of it being sold there. ive seen 2gnt's go for 3-16k on ebay. u should try selling it locally first since ur not in a hurry, but if it doesnt sell then definitely give ebay a shot.. here's some info on ebay fees, not sure if it would help. http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fees.html

I think suieclipse got like $11500 for his car on eBay and your mod list is almost as complete. you could get a serious chunk of change, but I would set the reserve a little high to ensure you get what you want

I might see about listing it on eBay for a decent reserve first and see what happens... If not much interest, then I'll try locally... I'd rather not pass the car on the road around here :/
Thanks for the tips guys.

I know you said not to say it but, don't get rid of this car man. As DJ said above (I can't believe I am about to admit this) I found inspiration in what you did to your car when I first joined 2gnt. I remember bragging to friends when I was 16 about your car, just because I was in the same club as you were. I know that the money would be nice, and when it comes right down to it, it really is "just a car", but I hope you have really given this thought.
Whatever you decide to do good luck. I hope you get the most value out of it either way.

Thanks for the comments man. It truely is a wonderful car. Back when you are talking about, I would say it was close to top dog next to Bill's car. The turbo kit and stage V bundle was one of the first, if not THE first to be shipped out. Most everything done to the car was some of the first stuff like that seen around these parts done to import cars.
I am aware that once she is gone, I probably wont get to modify or own another car anytime in the near future with such stunning beauty and power. :/
That being said, I am going to see what happens with a decent reserve on eBay. Hopefully it doesn't sell and I can tell my wife and family, 'It won't sell, I am stuck with this car forever' <evil grin> ;-)

Selling cars on eBay does not take a % of the final value. It's a flat fee to list ($40) and a flat fee if there are bids and the reserve is met ($40).

Do you know if the transaction fee (if that is what is called) is based upon 'any' bidding activity, or is it charged only 'if' the reserve is met?

93063, RE: FS: 98 Red Eclipse GS - Super20G - Custom Posted by Malenko, Jun-01-06 05:03 AM
basically:
if it doesnt sell: $40 if it does sell : $80
not meeting the reserve means it doest sell. Im not sure how second chance offers would work
