how much you guys think i could sell the car for w/ the blown motor?

honestly i would give you 4000.00 if it were close to me. thats figuring a rebuild on the motor will cost just under 1000. + my labor. value of car would be worth 5500. thats saying my labor is only worth 500. which is conservative but it gives you an idea.

think i could really get that much for it if i fixed her? oh ya.. it ain't juss the motor, needs a new hood (paint melted), new radiator fan(fan melted), some wiring (don't know exactly wat wires but some were pretty toasted)... will a complete long block have all these already? besides the hood and radiator i mean.. does it come w/ all the wiring?

oh ya.. forgot to mention the car got a new Spec 2 clutch also..

so basically im trying to see how i could get the most money out of the car.. rebuild and sell.. or part her out.. or just say screw it and sell it as is (prolly not the best way to go to get money out of it, but would save me the headaches).. i don't know.. any suggestions?

Do you have to sell it? It's a beautiful ride.

I would replace the motor if I were you, it looks like you deffintley put alot of work into it. But if you decide to part it out let me know because I'd like to get some tranny parts. But I hope you decide to put it back together and get an engine for it.

I thought it was an aftermarket wing that was the 3kgt style (3-piece, but tall like the turbo wing).

I'm not sure, if you look at ours, its rounded all the way through, that one is flat for about 12 inches accross the top, i've never noticed, but it does look like the fin off of a later 3kgt.

haha part it out to the bone? i'd like to but that's a lot of work.. i would like to fix it but it's hard to get the money to do it.. i mean id' have to buy a new motor (long block) w/ all wiring cuz i don't know for sure which wires are fried.. ima need a new radiator and hood.. das a good amount of cash to save up.. plus labor..

Why would under the hood be fried? You blew the head on the engine too? If it's total fubar then part it out, but I would try and fix it. But selling the car as a whole may be hard since most of us here have the same car.

when the rod shot out, oil shot out everywhere.. mostly onto the passenger side of the engine bay which is why most of the damage is on that side. so the fire was sitting on top of the motor where those wires were and oil was leakin out the hole onto the pavement which is why there was fire underneath the car as well..

allan just throw that money on your GST so we can race!!! We never got to race both of our RS' against each other so lets just do it in out gst's

my price was based on a perfect car with bad motor, now you are adding repainting the hood, replacing the fans, harness repair, and a new motor. A short block or long block will not come with any of that. I didnt realize the block had a hole init, i figured rebuilding the bottom end maybe top too. Your best bet is it fix it and sell it. If you part it out you will sit on parts for months. Maybe get your money maybe not. As the car sits i would guess at a price of 2000.00 maybe 2500.00
