...and labor on an ECU change? BWWAAAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
Dude, a retarded monkey on crack swilling bourbon could swap an ECU in under 10 minutes.

A 98 ECU will NOT work....
I have 2 97 ECU's if you need one, both are ATX though.
They will work in an MTX car... you'll just get a CEL is all.
$50 plus shipping. Both work.

I got a Howell AF/X race unit for a 97 MT if you want to buy it, but you'll have to pay the difference since I won't get a stock one in return. ~Jeffo

HAHAHA! Dude, all you have to do is unscrew a few bolts, unplug the harness plug, plug it into the new ECU, screw the bolts back in. You DO know where the ECU is right?

well its a 97 MTX non-turbo...and yea i know it only takes like 2 seconds to plug back in..maybe hes gonna recharge the fluid or somethin?..and also it took him awhile to figure out what was actually wrong..plus hes gonna be puttin in a new 02 sensor since the 1 i have is shot b/c of the ECU so maybe thats what he was talkin about..he said to make sure the numbers match on the ECU just so i know for sure its gonna work so i dont waste my money...so im gonna take it out and get hte numbers from that today, then tomorrow im goin to a junkyard where they give warranties so im gonna try that first..but if they dont have it i'll prob buy the guys ECU who's sellin it on ebay

Recharge? What fluid?

Just because the O2 sensor is bad doesn't mean the ECU is or vice versa.
I would try a new O2 before the ECU..
Good luck. Don't get suckered out of money man.

really test the simple things first before you go out and buy another ECU. i had to replace mine as it was not making one injector fire. also as stated above 97 and 98 ECU's are not the same.
