Sway bars and strut bars are totally different things. One goes on top of your strut towers and the others go under your car and hook into your control arms and cross memebers.

Yeah, I know what they are and where they go. What I'm asking is, would you use the rear strut brace with a rear sway bar, or is it one or the other.

Both.

Strut braces stiffen up the car. By tying the strut towers together, you're "solidifying" the car. Thus, reducing the amount of flex and chassis twisting stress it experiences in cornering, curves, etc.
