23408, Polishing and Powder Coating Services Posted by SM_Polishing, Sep-22-03 09:57 AM
Hey everyone,
I'm new to the site, but I've been doing custom polishing and powder coating for import cars for a long time now. If anyone has a question or is interested in having something done I'd be happy to give you any information you'd like and a quote. I also do a lot of custom color matching if that's what you're interested in.
Just email me at sales@smpolishing.com or post on this thread to get a hold of me. I have a special right now of $15 off for any 2GNT member that would like to have a part polished or powder coated!
You can see some of my work at www.SMPolishing.com.
Thanks, Scott Hotaling

Just to give you an idea guys, this company went through the trouble of custom matching my car's color-copper-in a powdercoating so I can be the first with a copper valve cover These guys are REALLY helpful, even going to the trouble of finding me a core valve cover on DSMtrader, losing 60 bucks when they paid the girl for it and she never sent it, and still are in contact with me whenever I have any questions or problems.
ANY of you out there with any custom ideas, colors, whatever, these are the guys to see. They're offering some 2GNT discounts if you mention the board, so give them a buzz, email, whatever! GREAT guys, A+!!
PS-Check out their gunmetal color...ooooohhh :)

We sure do. What size rims are the stock 2nd gens... 15s? 16s? Just let me know the size and I'll get you a price. Also, are the rims painted or anything now? Or are they just all around stock?
Thanks, Scott Hotaling
PS- Thanks for the compliments Scott!

>Thanks for the compliments Scott... if anyone ever comes across dmdstarprincess@aol.com I'd steer clear of them, that's the person who shafted us on the valve cover.
Anyways, I look forward to hearing from some of you guys soon! Our current promotion is $15 off any polished or powder coated piece. So a valve cover would only cost $45 for the coating instead of a normal $60.
This is copied from a related post over in Interior/exterior...talk about a fair price guys!

I know what you're saying. You will be seeing a banner very shortly from us, I've been emailing Dino back and forth for a few days. I just need to finish my banner before it can go up on the site.

I don't know about anyone else on here, but if a company wants to offer us 15 bucks a piece off any powdercoating or polishing, I'll let them post a few messages, especially when they've already agreed to make and pay for a banner ad.

23538, RE: Polishing and Powder Coating Services Posted by etx, Sep-23-03 08:31 AM
Yeah for sure. I just like to ask people to pay for a banner to support the site. I know dino charges a very reasonable rate and its not fair to other sponsors for other companies to get free exposure.

Cool man. I totally agree, banner ads are the place to go. That was the first thing I told Scott over at SM Polishing, so he's been designing one to put up there.
Honestly, these guys are more than willing to hook us up just for being us. We all have stuff to powdercoat...and for 45 bucks, come on, thats dirt cheap.

Yeah. I got some stuff I may be sending to them, thier work looks great!

Lookin at the SM Polishing website, it says $50 for powdercoating valve covers...is the 60 that your quoting include shipping or something? Either way, seems like a good price and nice work.

>Lookin at the SM Polishing website, it says $50 for >powdercoating valve covers...
Ruh-oh. I'm sure one of the two are typos. Scott is most assuredly not trying to rip us off :) Not to mention 45 bucks for a powdercoating THAT good is well worth it. For that, we should ALL have a powdercoated valve cover.

PS-it also says they don't powdercoat wheels, but as you may have read in this post, they do! :)

Hey guys, the website has a lot of old info on it. We mostly only use it to show our work. My partner Matt is going to update it here in a few minutes. The reason powder coating is $60 now instead of $50 is that all covers are professionally boiled before being coated. This makes the powder stick much better, and thoroughly cleans the underside of any oil residue.
Sorry for the confusion.
Scott
PS- I sent out most of the emails today to any replies, if I missed you I'll send it tomorrow when I'm back in the shop.

I tried to send you an email, but it came back... I'll just post on here instead. We can do the wheels for $160 for all four for 2GNT memebers, assuming they are 16" like the other model stockers. Shipping will be separate from the price above.
I also emailed everyone else who has requested quotes to date.
Thanks, Scott

I'd also like to add that due to oven size, 16" wheels are the largest we can do right now. But we're looking for a new oven right now and hopefully in a couple weeks or less we'll be able to do 18s and 19s.

PS- Our banner is up now too. :)

Thanks. We thought it was a pretty fair price considering most places seem to be charge $200 or more to do a set.
