This tool can be used in two different ways, first off, it makes a timing belt change a snap either with stock cam gears or adjustable ones. Second, if you have adjustable cam gears, you can lock in perfect timing that was intended by whatever brand camshafts you have. If you have stock gears and want to just use it for timing belt changes, it works amazingly by taking out all of the guesswork. $60 shipped.

I want to add to this: DCR (what I have - I bought the full setup from them) says that different camshaft brands have different alignment hole diameters.

I have stock, Crower, and Crane. Never tried to use one in the other.

You also need some kind of extension rod for the indicator to reach into the number 1 cylinder. The one that came with the DCR kit is machined to fit and all that jazz. Cant find a extension on HF's website.

Thanks Tim for adding that. The holes of the stock cams I have and the Crowers both fit this tool. I am not sure if Crane cams are different or not. As far as using a dial indicator setup, I just used a regular 'ole dial indicator from Napa and fabbed up my own mounting instead of using a magnetic base. For the rod that sits on top of the piston to find true tdc, I just used part of a metal rod I bought from ACE Hardware. Here's a pic of what I used. I had no problems using this at all. I will also add, a dial indicator fitted on one of these will be available here very soon, so if you're interested in one with a dial indicator, just let me know, I will be fabbing up something much nicer than this picture. I just used this as a reference, I used this on my car when I was in a hurry a while back.
