120262, FS: 97 AFX/R ECU Posted by xcasbonx, Jan-06-12 11:39 AM
This spring I am no longer going to have a use for this as I will be installing my MS2. In order to help fund that project and the fact that I'm not driving the car during winter months I'm willing to let this go to a fellow member who could really use it. This is by far one of, if not, the BEST upgrades for the NA platform.
Here's the deal:
1. This is for a 97 with a MTX (NV-T350) transmission. 2. You will need to pay in full prior to shipping. I accept paypal or money order (USPS only). 3. You are responsible for Paypal fees if going with Paypal. 4. You will need to send me your core in advance to shipping. You are responsible for shipping charges. It must be for a 97 MTX. This lets me verify the ECU you have sent me is not junk. 5. I will take $250.00 shipped IF you have a core. Without a core I'm asking $325.00 shipped without a core. 6. If there are multiple inquiries I reserve the right to whom I wish to do business with.

I'll bump this up for you cas. I wish I needed it (or it was a 98 - for experimental uses). Really great "bolt-on" and a really great price.

If you did a swap and installed this, you'd be like HOLY SHIT! As that's was my exact feelings about 5-6 years ago.
Made me wonder why the hell I ever bothered with an A604 on a 420a.

I want to do the swap... just not sure when that will happen. I mostly need an actual mt trans at this point as I have collected a majority of the other swap parts, short the ecu and possible clutch.
Anyhow...

Someone should jump on this. Awesome gains for a "bolt on."

I haven't ever heard of this but very interested. What kind of gains are we talking? Is a specific build required? Currently just running a 97 GS on header/catback/intake/VJ and port and polish. Interested and curious, thanks.
edit: read up a bit on this, is it truly bolt on or is there some programming req'd? Also, how does it affect emissions testing?

What kind of gains? Significant. Roughly a 10hp gain and potentially more depending on the supporting mods. Up's the RPM limit to 8200. It's the best bang for your buck as far as $/HP goes NA. Basically, the unit broadens the long term and short term fuel trims, advances ignition timing in the higher RPM's which allows for a leaner AFR. This is where the gains are seen. You'll also notice RPM's and moderate acceleration have more of a pep/kick.
No specific build/programming required. This is just a simple replace of ECU's and you're good to go. With the mods you've listed the ECU compliments those nicely. As far as emissions, my state does not require them so I never had to worry, but I've heard you will not pass with one of these installed. All you'd have to do is swap in your stock ECU.

My favorite NA bolt on by far. As for install, took my longer to find the correct star bolt screw driver, than it did for the actual swap.
