118587, FS: HadesOmega's 1995 Eclipse RS, 117k miles (San Jose, CA) - $2000 obo Posted by HadesOmega, Nov-03-10 03:05 PM
Sorry I kinda just copied and pasted this from Craigslist. It doesn't have any of the turbo stuff on it anymore its about as stock as I can get it, BUT IT PASSES SMOG!
Its time to sell my baby. This is a 1995 Eclipse RS which was my first car. This car taught me everything about cars. Much of my blood, sweat, and time was put into this car so it has lots of sentimental value to me. Unfortunately its time for me to move on. I have too many cars and motorcycles and not enough space, so this one has to go. This car is a 5-speed manual front engine front wheel drive car with about 117,000 miles.
The car is mechanically sound, it has a rebuilt engine that I rebuilt myself and was machined and assembled at a machine shop. The top end and bottom end have been completely built. The bottom has forged rods and pistons. Around 105,000 miles one of the valves cracked so I had the whole top end rebuilt with 1mm oversized valves and revised PT cruiser lifters. The car used to have a turbo kit on it but it was taken off which is why I had it built so strong, but to pass smog I had to take it off. The timing belt, timing belt tensioner, pulleys, and water pump were replaced. They shouldn't have to be replaced at least for another 30-40k miles. The clutch still grabs good and I just installed shocks and springs from a GS eclipse to replace a blown shock. Besides the engine work the car is mostly stock. It has a a custom 3" catback exhaust with my homemade silencer. The car runs great and can get up to 25 MPG. It also has a rear disc brake conversion, since all RSs come with drums. The car was broken into a couple times so I had an Audiovox car alarm installed. I also had power door locks installed so you can lock and unlock the doors with the alarm remote. The car also has a engine start button hidden. Also the battery has been replaced with a Costco low maintenance battery with a 36 month free replacement and 100 week limited warranty. After the engine was broken in I have been using Mobil1 10w-30 oil in the engine.
The tranny also has a New Skool slip in diff. Its not as good as a car with a genuine LSD but it its better than one that doesn't. It claws through corners and can launch much better because its using 2 wheels instead of 1 to provide traction.
Now the bad stuff the car has a SALVAGE title from when I let my sister drive it she crashed it while I was deployed in Iraq. The car's body was professionally repaired and when I got home I made sure the suspension was repaired. The sub frame was pulled to bring it back into spec and it has rear camber adjusters to fix a camber problem. The suspension is good and the car drives straight, but not as good as before the accident unfortunately. The body is another problem with the car. The paint on the top of the car is fading and the clearcoat on the hood is chipping. This is a very common problem among older Mitsubishis. I have another black 2G that has suffering from this. The roof has some surface rust as well. It will need a paint job or the paint repaired on the top of the car at least in a couple years. The body itself is in great shape for a 15 year old car. There are a couple dings on the door but the rest of the body is dent free. Also there is no windshield washer reservoir installed, I removed it because the squirters weren't working and thought it weighs a ton anyway. I have it and will include it with the sale. The SRS light is also illuminated. I installed an aftermarket steering wheel that doesn't have an airbag so it set off the SRS light. I tried reinstalling the airbag but I believe you need a special computer to reset the light.
So the lowdown is that its in great running condition with a good body but bad paint. The car has a salvage title. It is recently registered and smoged this October so it will be an easy transfer and you won't have to worry about smog for 2 years. Its a great driver if you can look past the paint. In my opinion the 2GNT is the best handling of all the 2Gs because of the 420As engine placement and weight advantage. This would be a good car if you plan to build a FWD race car since it has a fully built motor. You can put a turbo kit on it and the engine will handle it no problem provided you tune it properly. Or you could just leave it the way it is and just drive it. I also have most of the receipts and manuals for all the work that I've done to the car (A LOT), plus I have an older carfax for the car (a couple years old). I haven't driven the car much the last couple years.

Also if you want the turbo kit I'll throw it in for an extra 2k, but I doubt anyone wants to do that I'll make more just parting it.

Better than 2g AWD?...I don't know about that.
Anyway, I seriously contemplated buying this for a long time until I realized that I would then have two 2gnt's that I don't have room or time for.
I'll give you a free bump for a car that is a steal, considering what you have put into it. If I was in a better situation I would buy it.
