Hey guys I was wondering if anyone out there has a decent (non squeeky) power steering pulley. I started up my car the other day and it started a steady squeal. I drove it around the block hoping that it would stop, but its not and its driving me nuts. lol I bought a new belt hoping that would fix it, but my buddy tells me to purchase an actually pulley cause it has nothing to do with the belt.


This is the pulley im talking about. Can anyone hook me up??

Your buddy is an idiot. Tighten the belt in fact tighten them bolth to make sure its not the alt belt squeeling.

Theres no need for name calling.

He says its not the belt, cause when the car is running we sprayed a little of WD40 on the inside of the pulley and it stopped it for a moment. Then it continued to squeal. We tightened everything down too. IDK

Doubt it's the pulley as well. What condition are your belts in? How much play do they have?

Well they hardly have any play, and their still new. How much play is it suppose to have?

Spray some teflon based lube into the bearing and see if that helps.

BTW, wd40 is best used to loosen seized bolts, clean shit and degrease. I would NEVER under any circumstance use it to lubricate anything. For christ sakes, it evaporates. I used to lube my skateboard sealed bearings and bmx sealed bearings with it and kept wondering why i was blowing out bearings.... The wd40 cleaned the lube that's supposed to be in there out, evaporated and made my shit rust and explode.

Again, TEFLON. Teflon-based grease is a treat too.

It's the damn tensioner. The bearing inside goes bad quite often. I had the same issue a month ago and searched this site up and down for info (5 hours).

The best thing to do is take it out with a 14mm socket, then take out the bearing. Go to your local bearing dealer and they will cross reference the bearing with one they have in house. Otherwise, you're gonna have to buy the whole assembly from Mitsubishi which is over $100.

I just bought one from stangmurdera for 25 bucks. When it gets here Im going to do what 2GeclipseRS said to. Im also going to check, check, and recheck the tension of the belts. Thank you guys soo much.
