Whats up guys, cars got a good ole' knock. havent bothered to look at the bearings yet but its getting pretty loud.

Wanted to see if anyone had a stock block nothing fancy... mileage dont care. Just has to run ya know better than what i got. Looking to spend around 2-300 bucks around there. willing to travel. Located in Dayton OH.

I've got a block. It worked very well and had good compression while it was in my car... about 120,000 mi. on it. There's a little damage to the crank snout though. I'd be willing to let it go for about $125 + shipping.

Is the crank snout where the crank pulley goes on? the little bit that sticks out?

I'll have to take some pictures when I get home (on a business trip currently; will be back on Tuesday). I think it's repairable, but you would have to decide whether its worth it to get a new one or repair this one. Primarily, the hole needs to be drilled and tapped.

I have a crank thats in my car now... do you think if i took it out and got it resurfaced or whatever... Then bought new bearings it would work?

but either or, if you could get pics whenever you want, that would be great!

im just looking for a cheap route to get my car healthy again, it has 138k on it now and i dont like the "sounds" lol

It's possible, depending on how damaged your current crank is (if at all). To be honest, when I rebuilt my engine, I found that the block I bought had a completely torn up rod journal. Fortunately, I picked up a new one for about $40 from a local junkyard.

im assuming that was the crank? Did you have to get it machined still? Would that be in my best interest just for "reliability" measures.. and so forth. i dont know how much longer this motor i have now will last so i just need something thats not too hard nor money. Til i can get this other motor built. ya know...

If the crank you find is within spec, I would definitely get it polished. Sorry to the mods if I'm turning this into a tech thread. Perhaps we should take the conversation to PM's?
