1466, SoCal Race Day - Fontana Speedway pics Posted by thedawg, Feb-16-02 12:54 PM
We had a good turnout today, I counted at least 12 cars, and we had the biggest club pit area there! What's up to everyone who showed up, and didn't make fun of my horrible times heheheh :) (My best time was a 15.959 @ 88.6mph :()
I have videos of the pit area, and a couple of our track runs... but can anyone digitize VHS? Anyways, here are the pics:

I had so much fun today. My heart was pumping so fast at the start line. I guess my 16.2 ET was ok for just intake and exhaust. I was really hoping for the 15's, maybe next time. We need to have more meets like that, at a track. Did anybody break my 16.2 besides Dan?

1468, RE: SoCal Race Day - Fontana Speedway pics Posted by SonicYan, Feb-16-02 03:02 PM
Nice pics Dan. Unfortunately, this day wasn't a good one. Woke up late, scratched my rims, didn't get any good times...Arrrgh, I feel shortchanged. Only got in three races!!! Compared to the last time, I got in six. And I didn't even get to break my old record. :-( Damn 18's. Now they're even scratched. Didn't even win a single race. Well time wise that is. I got to race this I dunno Nova or something. I was supposed to race u Steve, but they were doing something with my line, so they had u make a bye run. Then came this rumbling muscle car. Worst run of the day, actually worst of all my times. Ran 18 something I think. But the other guy redlighted. So technically, I win. :P Duh...
Off topic, I really think the UDP really isn't worth 10 HP or a lil bit less. I dunno. Maybe its just me. I'm even starting to think that I wasted money on it, since the only kick I got out of it so far was when I got it new. Revved faster. But now, I really don't feel any difference, besides the fact that it squeaks whenever u make a hard turn while ur slow, coming out from a parking space. My system is even doing worse when I put it in, it was already doing bad, now its worse. O well. 150 bucks down the drain...
But either way, I still had fun. We gotta do this again. Maybe by then, I might have a suspension setup, maybe get some NOS to at least squeeze into the 15's, hopefully. :P Aight, later peeps...
P.S. I forgot, anyone else take videos or was it only Dan? Hey Dan, I wanna see that tape of our run!!!

Hell yeah that was fun today. Too bad Dan and I got pitted against some domestic 12 sec muscle cars. That 67 camaro SS spanked my ass. Too bad he redlighted so i too won on technicality :P
Overall we had alot of fun. I got a facial tan. We need to do more events like this instead of standing around in the rain like last time.
Dan, see if you can get that recording digitized so that we can show how we pulled away from Mikey on that last run. :P
It was good seeing all of you that showed up despite the early morning fog and long tech inspection lines.

Despite my horrible times, the long lines, and the strange weather, I still had a great time. It was fun racing and hanging out with everyone. 2GNT definitely had a strong prescence down there.

good meet fellaz.. i finally got out there and met some of you.. i got some pics and vids thatll ill put up later.. i got a suggestion for the next meet (when ever that will be).. i think that we should go to LACR (palmdale).. now i know that our time will not be as good (b/c of the altitude) but it will give us an opportunity to work on our 60s.. which i know all of us do.. the air doesnt affect the 60s nearly as much as the overall... that, and if we go.. we will definitely be able to get more than 3 runs in.. i went on a saturday night, and was able to get like 6-7 runs in easily.. if we could make it on wednesday night, than you could easily get in 10 runs.. just a suggestion

Hell yeah it was a fun day. Too bad I suck at that track. First time out wheel hop like mad. Anyone get video of that? I guess it was really bad from what Eric was telling me.. 2nd time out, I launched to slow and just bogged. But it was still good enough to beat that Baracuda.. Hehehe god bless redlights :D Ah well I had a blast.
Feel the fury of my fastest 17.756 pass.... lol. Hope I have better luck next time...

Not Dan, but yeah he is auto. For some strange reason, he was not able to push pass 6 lbs. Probably due to the factory exhaust. Beside, the air fuel ratio is all screwy...need that Sfmu :P

Whahahat is this pulling away from Mikey? Hell, I was just granny shifting, not double clutching like I should! :P Wait till I put in my Greddy, AEM, and whatever other company that makes stickers put on. lol. I'm gonna swap in a b18 in dis shit. Hehehe...
Yeah, I wanna see that video!!! Wanna hear what my exhaust looks like. Anyone else have a pic of me running? Besides the ones that I have? I still have to develop them and I still have a few shots left. Thanks.
P.S. Oh yeah I forgot, anyone have the pic of my massive wheel gap? I wanna use that as my sig. :-)

Hey Sonic, It's your 18's that are making your car slow. Use stock 14's when going to the track.

Yup great meet guys, I'll get pics up real soon. We should do more racing in the future. I was really tired though. Next time, we should just go at 10 am cus that's what my friends did and they still got in. It was way too crowded this time compared to our first time there. Oh well...
Fast420a, Sonic did change to stock 14's up front, but still ran the same times too.
Off topic, but I agree with sonicyan. I also think the AFX UDP does nothing for our cars, and Anton had it too, and he also thinks it really does nothing, as it improved none of our times. I think that I won't believe any real gains for it until I see a dyno on an ECLIPSE, not a neon. It's not worth the money imo especially with the squeaking and belt throwing problems other people have had (although mine hasn't eaten up belts).

1482, RE: SoCal Race Day - Fontana Speedway pics Posted by CVedEclipse, Feb-17-02 11:53 PM
hey marcus.. how did the hvac turn out? just curious.. also, i agree, i think that part of the reason our times were not as good was because we were tired (or at least thats what ill blame it on.. hehe) but yea, like i suggested earlier.. if we go to LACR, the track hours are 5pm-10pm (weds and fri).. the alititude will hurt the et's but the 60s should not be effected. that and we can get alot more runs in than 3. let me know what you all think

1483, RE: SoCal Race Day - Fontana Speedway pics Posted by eclipse804, Feb-18-02 11:36 AM
Hey, thanks for the help with the LEDs, they came out great. It's not that much dimmer than stock, so it's cool. I dunno why it was so crowded this time. Maybe it was the holiday weekend, or maybe it's just getting popular. Last time we got 7 runs by 4 pm. This time only 3. I'd rather stick to fontana just because it's not as far as LACR, and that place is also really high elevation so everyone runs slower. I'll try to find out from my friends who go a lot whether fontana is always crowded now...

1484, RE: SoCal Race Day - Fontana Speedway pics Posted by Anton, Feb-18-02 05:49 PM
You guys took some great pics of the races... Anyways, I agree for the most part about the AFX. It definitely doesnt do much when it comes to the track. I do, however, think it lightens the load on the engine for highway cruising (My AC doesnt drain nearly as much as it used to). I dont know if that is worth 150 though... Maybe its an AT thing..
|
1485, RE: SoCal Race Day - Fontana Speedway pics Posted by eclipse804, Feb-18-02 06:20 PM
Well helping out when not racing and when the AC is on makes it more of a convenience mod then, but not meant for power. And sonicyan has a manual, so it can't just be an auto thing...

1486, RE: SoCal Race Day - Fontana Speedway pics Posted by thedawg, Feb-19-02 02:33 AM
No matter where I set the boost controller, I maxed out at 6psi... never knew this before, cause my old Autometer gauge was defective. I'm guessing either the stock exhaust was canning the boost, or I have much bigger problems... (first clue: the catch can overflowed). I had a 1.1 RT on my 15.9 run.

Oh yeah, just a little correction. I never was able to change back to the stockers since I didn't have the lug nuts for it. My old lug nuts didn't fit in snugly and Dan and Kaiser noticed it. Rather than risk an accident, I just didn't go through with it. But still, I have my doubts about the UDP. Steve just had an I/E I think and he ran 16.2 with 17's. But yeah, I think the 18's could also be a factor. I was just expecting too much from the UDP, that maybe it could have made up for the 18's weight and diameter. Guess it wasn't enough.
Nice pics Marcus and Dan! Woohoo, my car's on a website!!! It must be the wheelgap. :P Hehehe...Could I use the pic on ur websites as my sig? Thanks...
