76, timetrials at buttonwillow

the races were tight. lots of modded cars, and a bunch of 86 corollas for the drift competition.

i met fusion, ichiban racing, kory, hades omega, and others who i cant remember right now.

i wanna say thanks to all of them for givin my ride attention and helpin me break sum bolts loose or reach into my enginebay and get to bolts that are hard for me to reach with my wide ass wrists.

i took a lot of pictures, and hope to get them developed asap.

the most pimp ride there, imo, was this nsx with a supercharger and sheetmetal intake manifold. there were many other tight rides too, but that one was the sickest.

there was a turbo 1g with an air to water to air intercooler with a sheetmetal airbox welded tight. he said he ran a 12.2 before he blew his engine, and now after the rebuild he hasnt gone to the track yet.

i got to ride in a turboed 420 (thanks merlin) and dat shit is tight.

and i also wanna give props to rre for having extra belts for the 4g that somehow fit on my udp for the p/s so i could drive home with decent steering.

also, i was able to datalog my car, and even though i had no codes, the intake temperature from my dual ram air to short ram was 68 degrees while at WOT from 20-70. that is close to what kory was gettin with his aem cai, but he didnt go wot so the numbers weren't comparable.

tia, and it was lots of fun to meet guys with the same if not more willingness and knowledge to help out on my dsm.

pics will be up soon, just be patient

Cool I hope you got a lotta pix of the road racer, I was running around the place so much that I couldn't even talk to the peeps that made it to the meet or much less take pix of everyone and their cars. :(

my pix are up, they're mostly of our trip there and the drift event though.

haha u assnitches... had to mention me spinning out! haha...

the event was hell cool and im glad i met sean. working on our cars was great... when we got there sean already had a motel room waiting for us (i guess he's used to getting motel rooms hehe). the weather turned out gREAT as well... there was 50% chance of rain and we didn't get a single drop.

a few things i learned from this:

- stock tires on mitsus suck for event... i wished i had 17s 225/45/ZR
- our cars are heavy and transitional response is not very great
- i STILL need bigger brakes!
- inexperience was a big factor

by end of day i was more comfy driving on course... there were some assholes that think they were mr race driver by doing dumbshit like passing peeps in the corners. RRE was there and they were cool. i even got a rre tech sticker (rice mod i dun mind) on my car. hehe

all in all... GREAT event. i wish some harsher refereeing was there tho. great to meet everyone and glad everyone made it home ok

Haha here's what I learned:

-I need better brakes so I can left foot brake at 80+ miles and hour
-Learned to drift using the technique: heel to toe, left foot brake, Ebrake, countersteer, gas control! Woohoo that Initial D shit actually worx!!!
-An FF car can look as good as a FR car drifting!
-The skid pad destroys your tires
-Dunlop Qualifier tires suck big ass, only good to burn rubber with, which I did :P
-When driving with other drifters keeping your distance is a good idea
-I have to learn to tap the full power of my car!
-I need a new freakin steering wheel because I love my cousin's monte carlo wheel
-Always bring spare tires to an event
-Always bring extra money to an event
-Your ass hurts after a while when driving long distances
-Staying awake sux on a road trip
-Without music you will go insane with a 3" exhuast system
-Your car turns into a grip machine when you load it down with hella shit
-haha these are only just a few

Hades- whats your skidpad?

I'm guessing you meant what is a skidpad? A skid pad is a giant chunk of flat asphalt that's purpose to skid on. You can do ebraking, slalom, it's to test out the limits of you suspension I guess. You see them in car commericials covered wit water, particularly mazda commercials.
