6138, Finally in the 10seconds!
Posted by customrsturbo, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
I finally made it to the ten second in quarter mile. Last wednesday at Speed World Dragway ran a 10.99 @ 133mph. 60ft on the 1.7sec. Sorry no video of the run but next time will have camera. Same setup, just different launch technique. I will post the full time slip later.

Fuckin' A right, my man. A 10 second run is a 10 second run, lol. Congrats (you still suck for being able to run when I'm stuck in snow). Now post up that slip and give us a back up run. But you know its still gotta be in the 10's for back-up ;-)

You're in an elite group now.

Congrats man, I've been waiting for someone to break back into the 10's and seems like your on the right track. I also like your setup, it's built to take the abuse it gets on the track. Hope to hear more from your experiences at the strip.

Any traction mods? Also do you know hou much does the car weigh?

Would love to hear how yo do that with stock axles.....

Very nice looking car.... has about the same as mine exept for the cams I still have the stockers. Are your cams turbo grind or N/A grind ?

As Batman said: welded diff.

Normal weight reduction: no A/C system, no evaporator, no power steering, remove all black pad on the floor board(around 30lbs), cut the tire spare space and replace with aluminum sheet. Lots of track time and different launches techniques and NO POWER SHIFTING(I found they damage our transmission). I was really praying that these set of axle will hold, they did! Check my other videos on YouTube under MDP 420A. Specially the one called Breaking Stuff.
I am using N/A grind.

Thanks for the words guys!

Nice....

So what did you do to make the stock axles stronger?

Have you considered using a fuel cell to save you a couple of pounds?
6153, RE: Finally in the 10seconds!
Posted by customrsturbo, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
I pick up another set on Discount Auto Parts but these set look different. The material of the axles looked darker than usual. Maybe they decided to use another vendor. I have been replacing them with the warranty as I break them.(I am just assuming LOL!)
I thought of going with a fuel cell, but after loosing my original job, budget has been really, really tight and I can't afford to make any changes to the car for now. I will run it and try to squeeze the most out of it until something gives up.

Wow. I am incredibly amazed and impressed.

Share info on the build and what you found that works better as far as launching and shifting ect.

Congrats... That hahn records has stood for far to long. Hopefully one of you can break it at some point.

Hahaha, 87 huh? Goddamn, how close could you be? Damn.

Congrats man, I guess you backed her up by tieing Hahn's record! With a 135 trap you can hit mid 10's.

Make sure that battery is charged next time. You still got a month and a half to get the record this year.

Very nice sir, I can't wait for our record to be back in the hands of true DSMers instead of Hahn.

Thanks for the support. My car is in the body shop getting re- painted
and installing factory bumpers. As soon as it gets out I will be installing a 10-point cage and getting to auto Trans rebuilt. Then get a tune and hit the track. Are you still running a 35r?

Awesome, any pictures of the built and set up.
Yes, still 35r, but lets see what comes by!

I'm still on a 35r as well. Here are some current pics of the tear down. I'm converting to manual brakes and removing the booster. Shaving the bay and repainting the entire car white with a blue pearl.
